Food Finds: Cheryl at the Irish Pub

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Do you celebrate? I usually stand at the sidelines for the raucous celebrations in downtown St. Petersburg. This year I feel a little more inclined to participate. According to Ancestry, I’m 10% Irish.

I live close to a lot of Irish Pubs. All serve delicious and traditionally poured Guinness. My favorite stew is prepared at Mary Margaret’s Olde Irish Tavern. It’s a hearty traditional Guinness lamb stew with potato, baby carrots, yellow onion & brown bread.

The Three Birds Tavern has been our local since we moved into the downtown area of St. Petersburg back when I was only thinking about writing mysteries. They were kind enough to host my first signing. Even more thrilling, the staff created the Pane and Suffering Martini in honor of my first book. It’s still listed in their drink menu. They will be hosting the St. Andrew’s Pipes & Drums of Tampa Bay, as well as axe throwing.

Another long-time favorite, Courigan’s Irish Pub, will be hosting their 15th Annual Block Party. There will be live music, food, green beer, plenty of Jameson Irish Whiskey and Guinness.Do you celebrate as Irish or with the Irish?
