Cheryl: Inspiration

Cheryl: Inspiration

Cheryl here with a few snaps from a visit over the weekend to Washington, DC. This was particularly delightful because museums are my source of inspiration. They keep my mystery writing flame glowing brightly.

My absolute favorite is the National Air and Space Museum. Even though more than half the space is under construction, it did not disappoint. We timed our visit to avoid the crowds later in the day. Most museums are still closed, so the few that are open see lots of visitors.

Also on the ground floor is a Saturn rocket repurposed to serve as a Spacelab Orbital Module. The scale of a Saturn V rocket is impossible to understand until you are standing next to one. Also incredible, thousands of engineers created this – I am inspired by their results.

Another favorite exhibit is the Wright Brothers. My husband and I both grew up in Dayton, Ohio, so this is familiar history. Looking at the full-scale replica, I’m amazed that they dared to climb aboard and make it fly. I’m glad they did.
