Raquel: Croquetas & Cookies

Raquel: Croquetas & Cookies

Cozy Florida is BACK! We took off the month of December. And— that turned into three months. Oops!

What have I done in the last months? SO MUCH! But I’ll give you a few highlights. I turned in book two in the Caribbean Kitchen Mystery Series. The first in the series—Mango, Mambo, and Murder—got nominated for TWO awards! (a Lefty & an Agatha) I did my first book club author chat for a lovely group in Jupiter, Florida. They threw the nicest Cuban-themed party for me.

The cutest coasters!
My favorite croquetas! These were so good.
Dominoes

In preparation for the book club, I made discussion questions. They are on my website, so go check them out. What else? Oh, I perfected a few recipes that will be in the back of book two. Can you cay FLAN? And of course, I started work on book three. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably seen my weekend writing warrior snacks. It is usually a baked good for the grocery. But the other day, I finally went to this bakery my friend has been raving about—Cindy Lou’s Cookies. I am kicking myself for not having gone sooner.

Now truth be told, I can pass up a cookie, but I rarely say no to freshly baked pound cake. And OMG, Cindy Lou’s has the richest, moistest, perfect-est pistachio pound cake. (I’m a writer I can make up a word if I want to.)

This foto doesn’t do the green color justice. It was just like pistachio.

Next time you are in Miami, make a point to stop at this friendly bakery. And if you are craving a plate-sized cookie (Check out the flavors. I want to try the butterscotch walnut oat one! ) that is chewy and crisp at the same time—Cindy Lou’s ships!

What’s your favorite cookie flavor? Answer in the comment section.

  1. Hi Raquel, So happy to see your nominations — well deserved! My favorite cookie is Scottish Shortbread from a vendor at The Marketplace on the St. Pete Pier. They also have the best ginger snap cookies I’ve ever tasted.
